At the December 7, 2015 City Council meeting, the Park Sales Tax implementation plan was approved by the City Council.  This plan creates the schedule of approved park improvements and new park development over the next six years.  The projects are selected and placed within a given year based on a number of different reasons including construction schedules, necessary safety improvements, planning schedules, grant opportunities and the ability to reduce utility expenses or maintenance costs.  The Parks and Recreation Department will hold interested parties meetings and ask for Council approval for each project during that project's funding year, but we would also like to use this forum to gain overall input about each proposed project.  For each project, you will see a short description of the general improvements proposed by the park planning staff, and we would like additional comments from the public about each park and trail project.  This forum allows the public to provide input for each project ranging from a new idea for that park or trail or point out an area we should focus on as we renovate or construct the park.

In the forum, you will see many different ideas that represent each of the park and trail projects in the PST implementation plan from 2016 to 2021.  Please feel free to comment within each idea about what you would like to see!  You can also add a general idea to the forum if you have an idea for a trail or park that isn't listed as a current idea!

If you would like to have more information about each park, facility or trail, please visit:

Thank you for your support of the 1/8 cent Park Sales Tax and we look forward to the numerous park and trail improvements and development over the next six years.

It would be great if we could get the RC track at cosmo handicap accessible. A pavilion would be great to shield people from the sun. A driver stand would make the track more usable. Also in order to keep the track maintained we need water ran to the track. It would also make the track easier to maintain if either parks and recreation would allow us to use some equipment on it, or if they would use their equipment on it with members of our group present to advise on the maintenance of the track. These things would greatly improve the usability of the track.

Well I didn't register first so my recommendations didn't take but I agree with what Patrick said. The driver's stand is the most important thing for sure, the pavilion needs a stone grill so we can wheel all day, more/better parking on the busy game day weekends or RC track only parking & make the RC tracks handicap accessible with a ramp to the driver's stand & sidewalks so people don't have to stomp around in the mud. Maybe install cameras to keep the vandals from cutting the power and tearing up the tracks & crawler wall. That would be a good start. If you really want to spend some money, move the RC track to the newly acquired space near Boone Quarries & have some professionals come in and design a real RC track like they have all over California. The bmx guys can have the existing RC track since they seem to like it way too much. Oh and some lights too, I hope that is not too much to ask, it never hurts, right?

This is a great idea. The hard part is done out there and A LOT of families want to go enjoy the track together but it is lacking exactly what Patrick mentioned for them to enjoy it as a family. Essentially that's the parks sole purpose. Great idea patrick.

With these upgrades that Patrick mentioned it would make the RC park a more enjoyable place for the entire family. Great ideas!

I agree with the above comments of the other members of the rc group. I personally would like to see the handicap access. Its quite the journey parking and heading up over the hill and then down to the track. When your legs don't work so well. Additional parking is a must. During baseball season you can't find a parking spot. Let alone a handicap spot. I would like to ask for additional lighting for the track area. So the track can be enjoyed anytime at night till the park closes. May help detour copper theft and vandalism to the track. I hope that you use the money to help the rc group this is a growing pass time and sport. Who is to say that it couldn't grow into some big and drawn revenue into the city if events could be held there with the proper improvements. Thank you for your consideration and looking at our request.

All the things they asked for are very important for an RC Park to be run safely. We do hope that you do consider what they have asked for. it would draw a lot more people to the Park. Good luck Guys~~~ Empire of Dirt RC Park and Campground LLC is behind you.

I echo all of these. Handicap access is a must. Electric and water for charging and maintaining the tracks. Pavilion for shade. Stand is nice. Parking for sure.

The RC track needs a water supply badly. A barbeque would be great, a drivers stand and an absolute must is parking andBetter access for handicapped persons.

It would also be nice to have some help from parks and rec on the track and up.keep they do so much for the rest of the park and nothing for the rc part of the park! I'd love to see what Patrick had in mind .
