Put up "End School Zone" signs by Smithton Middle School
In front of Smithton Middle School, put flashing crosswalk signs to make it safer for kids to get to school. I've seen 2 kids almost hit by cars while crossing at the crosswalk.
All projects greater than 1-minimum zoning unit in size should follow guidelines for med-long term projections and planning.
Roadway intersections should be built to optimize flow and minimize idle time. Congestion, loss of property, and injuries in the city are mostly self inflicted. Planning generally lack of vision and oversight and is choking the cities development prospects. We need less stop signs/lights and more rh turn lanes, acceleration/decelleration lanes, more restrictions for lh turns, and greater setbacks for access points from most intersections... (every time a car stops/slows at an intersection it increases travel time roughly 1 second per mile per hour of deceleration plus the time stopped). COMO could increase utilization of existing roadways by more than 75% which decreases cost and improves development prospects (not including potential improvements for driver awareness/engagement).
I have limited mobility. I want to get a CoMo Park card but getting to the building and 3rd floor will be very hard. How about an online payment/request/mailing method?
If the large strip of dead trees and weeds between Tiger Village and Landmark Bank were cleaned up, the area would be much more appealing! It collects trash and I've seen homeless people take shelter in the thick weeds to stay cool. Hundreds of birds stay in the dead trees and screech all hours of the night. This is my view from my bedroom window. With the small stream that runs through, it has been a breeding ground for mosquitoes and ticks this summer. I feel the the small area has a lot of potential if it could receive some love and care.
It's getting to the point where you can't go a few blocks without seeing apartment buildings.
Downtown is especially bad: a cesspool of closed roads, debris, and poorly designed apartment buildings. Downtown used to be somewhat decent aesthetically; now a giant eyesore on a city that consistently diminishes in quality.
Hopefully the people approving this garbage are getting truckloads of money under the table for these apartment deals; otherwise there is no excuse for blatantly pushing the city into further degradation.
I feel that we should adopt, honor, and uphold the Paris Climate Agreement goals. There are many other cities that have taken up the standard to follow through with this idea. I believe that we must all do our part to look out for our planet. We only have one shot at this and if we get it wrong, it is not us that will pay, but future generations. TYRONE CRAYTON VS OAK STREET & COLUMBIA POLICE
The MKT trail section which is being restored after the Flatbranch Sewer project should be lined with native plants, trees, and shrubs. Specifically, I would like to see more use of edible and fruit-bearing plants. A map could be created with displays the location of these various edible plants along with the likely dates that they will be in season. This could be part of a "walking picnic" or other educational/experiential activity for school groups and other citizens. There are many potential community partners for this project, including Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture, Community Gardening Coalition, Columbia Public Schools, Conservation Department, and Public Health organizations.
Please straighten out your billing system change! My method of payment has always been via my bank in Columbia. For some reason it was changed by COC to check form rather than electronic payment, thus slowing down the payment process dramatically. My bank has submitted request to be changed back to electronic numerous times only to be rejected and I cannot find out WHY!! I have talked to COC many times, even the customer service supervisor Derek Fast with no results. I am very frustrated, as I have been a loyal, on time paying customer for many years. This is just plain ridiculous!! Bonnie Allard
